Renowned Kenyan journalist Waihiga Mwaura has announced that he will be leaving Royal Media Services’ Citizen TV after 14 years to join BBC Africa, specifically Focus on Africa.

The announcement was made on Mwaura’s official social media accounts, where he expressed his gratitude for his time at Citizen TV and shared his excitement about his new role at the BBC.

Mwaura no stranger to success

Mwaura is no stranger to success in his career, having won several prestigious awards over the years. In 2021, he won two awards at the African Journalist of the Year Awards (#AJEA2021). He also won the UBA Award in 2019 and the Komla Dumor award at the BBC in 2018. In 2012, he won the CNN MultiChoice African Journalist of the Year award, and in 2015, he won the Mohamed Amin Africa Award for Best African Journalist.

Mwaura’s departure from Citizen TV is sure to be felt by his colleagues and fans alike.
