Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga has returned to Nairobi after a week-long trip to Dubai.
Odinga arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Friday and was greeted by a crowd of supporters and ODM leaders, including ODM Deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

Posting on his social media accounts, Odinga expressed his excitement about being back home, writing: “Touchdown in Nairobi! It’s an amazing feeling to be back home. #BackToThePeople.”

Odinga’s return to Kenya comes ahead of a planned rally in Kibra, a suburb of Nairobi, where he is expected to address his supporters and rally them behind the ODM party’s agenda.
The rally in Kibra is expected to be a major event for the ODM party, which has been working to consolidate its support as they countinue to push the government to work the the cost of living.
Raila a leading figure
Odinga, who served as Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013, is seen as a leading figure in Kenyan politics and has a strong following among young people and urban voters. He has been a vocal critic of the current government and has called for reforms to the country’s political system in order to promote greater accountability and transparency.
