Kabras Sugar Head Coach Carlos Katywa remains confident ahead of his team’s Enterprise Cup title defense against rivals KCB, despite being without nine squad members who are away on Currie Cup duty with the Simbas.

Katywa sees this as an opportunity for the remaining squad members to showcase their abilities.

Speaking to KRU Media on Thursday, Katywa said, “It is actually a great opportunity for us to see our youngsters once more because they have been training and working since the Eric Shirley Shield semis. Indeed, about 80% of them played in last weekend’s semifinal against Oilers, and this is another opportunity for them to showcase what they are made of.”

He added that they had been working to upscale their skills and bring them to an understanding that this is an opportunity for them to prove that they also belong in the high levels of the game. Katywa emphasized that it is a challenge for everyone involved, and it works for both teams.

Despite missing some of his key players, Katywa remains optimistic and believes his young squad members will rise to the occasion. Fans can expect an exciting match between Kabras and KCB as the two teams battle it out for the Enterprise Cup title.

“I believe in the boys, and I believe they have what it takes to win,” Katywa said. “We have a good squad, and we are prepared for the challenge ahead.”

Kabras Sugar will face KCB in the Enterprise Cup final, which will be a repeat of last year’s encounter. In 2020, Kabras defeated KCB 9-6 in a try-less match to lift the title. The match will kick off at 3.00 pm at Nairobi’s RFUEA Ground and will be preceded by the Nationwide final between Mombasa and JKUAT Cougars at 1.00 pm. The Mwamba Cup final between KCB II and Kenya Harlequin II will take place at 11.00 am.
