Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang recently had a chance encounter with Prof George Wajakoyah at the airport, where the two engaged in a brief but friendly conversation.
Despite their differing political positions, Governor Sang described Prof Wajakoya as a “great mind and a pleasant person”.
During their conversation, Governor Sang made two requests to his learned senior.
He said: “my two small requests to him…husiwe ukichoma na matusi kali sana and wacha kuenjoy ma~youth na hii story ya bangi kiasi.” This translates to “refrain from using abusive language or making derogatory remarks and avoid promoting the use of marijuana among young people.”
The issue of marijuana use has been a hot topic in Kenya recently, with some politicians advocating for its legalization.
However, Governor Sang appears to be taking a more cautious approach, warning against the potential risks associated with drug use, particularly among young people.
Despite their political differences, Governor Sang also praised Prof Wajakoya’s political longevity, stating that “he has a longer political shelf life than all his compatriots in his current political family.”
It remains to be seen whether this chance encounter will lead to any further collaboration between the two political figures.
