RB Leipzig have reportedly set their sights on Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun as a potential replacement for Christopher Nkunku, who is expected to join Chelsea in the summer.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Balogun has caught the attention of the Bundesliga side after impressing during his loan spell at Stade de Reims this season, where he has scored 19 Ligue 1 goals.
With a reported transfer fee of €30m, Balogun could be a cheaper option for Leipzig than Lille star Jonathan David, who has also been linked with the German club.
However, there are several factors to consider in Balogun’s future. One of which is the question of which national team he will choose to represent, as he is eligible to play for both the United States and England.
The 21-year-old visited Orlando during the international break after withdrawing from England U21s’ latest squad due to injury.
Furthermore, Balogun’s future at Arsenal is also uncertain, as his contract with the club is set to expire at the end of the season. Despite impressing during his limited appearances for the Gunners, Balogun has yet to establish himself as a regular starter under Mikel Arteta.
With interest in his services from across Europe, Balogun’s future in football remains an intriguing topic as the current campaign draws to a close.
