English Premier League side Arsenal are reportedly intensifying their efforts to sign Djibril Sow, a defensive midfielder from Eintracht Frankfurt, in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Daily Mirror reports that the Gunners are willing to pay a fee of around £13 million for the 26-year-old, who is set to become a free agent in 2024.
It is understood that Sow has informed Frankfurt that he has no intention of extending his stay at the club, which has piqued the interest of several clubs, including Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
Sow is a Switzerland international who has impressed in his role as a defensive midfielder. He has played alongside Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka in all four games for Switzerland at the World Cup in Qatar, and the two are said to have a good rapport.
Arsenal is known to be looking for quality midfield reinforcements, and Sow’s defensive attributes and strong work rate make him an attractive target for the Gunners.
With his contract set to expire in 2024, Frankfurt may be willing to sell Sow this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer in the future.
However, Arsenal may face competition from other interested clubs, which could make negotiations for Sow’s transfer challenging. Nonetheless, if Arsenal is successful in securing Sow’s signature, he could add valuable depth to the Gunners’ midfield and strengthen their chances of achieving success in the upcoming seasons.
