  • A new modern arena and entertainment zone will be built in central Nairobi under the Railway City Project.
  • The development aims to turn the CBD into a major hub for sports, culture, and business.
  • The agreement has been signed between Zaria Group and Kenya Railways Corporation.

Central Nairobi is set for a major transformation following the announcement of a modern arena and entertainment district under the broader Nairobi Railway City Project.

The development is expected to reshape the capital’s Central Business District, turning it into a vibrant destination for sports, entertainment, culture, and commercial activity.

A key milestone was reached when a lease agreement was officially signed in Nairobi between Kenya Railways Corporation and private developer Zaria Group.

The signing formalised the partnership needed to move the project from planning into execution, marking one of the most significant steps in the Railway City vision so far.

The arena project is not a standalone development. It is designed to fit into Kenya’s wider infrastructure and urban renewal strategy, working alongside other major projects such as Talanta Stadium and the Bomas International Convention Complex.

Together, these developments are expected to create a connected ecosystem for large events, tourism, and investment opportunities within Nairobi.

Once completed, the arena and entertainment district are projected to be delivered within 12 months, a timeline that signals an ambitious rollout plan.

Authorities estimate that the project could generate up to 25,000 jobs annually, spanning construction, hospitality, security, transport, and entertainment sectors.

The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to modernise Nairobi’s city centre and improve its global competitiveness.

By positioning the capital as a regional hub for major events and business activity, planners hope to attract more international visitors, investors, and large-scale conferences.

If successful, the project could mark a major turning point in how Nairobi’s CBD is used and experienced in the years ahead.
