Kenya Airways has temporarily stopped two of its scheduled flights to and from New York after severe weather disrupted airport operations in the United States.
In a customer notice issued on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the national carrier confirmed that a blizzard warning and heavy snowfall led to operational challenges at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Airport authorities suspended flight movements for certain periods, forcing the airline to adjust its schedule.
The flights impacted include KQ 002, which was set to depart from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi to JFK on February 22. Also affected is KQ 003, scheduled to fly from New York back to Nairobi on February 23.
Kenya Airways expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to travellers and assured customers that safety remains a top priority.
According to the airline, the Nairobi to New York service (KQ 002) is expected to operate on February 24, while the return flight (KQ 003) is planned for February 25. These arrangements depend on weather conditions improving and clearance from airport authorities.
The airline said it is closely monitoring the situation and working with airport officials to ensure smooth operations once it is safe to resume flights.
Travellers booked on the affected flights have been encouraged to stay updated through the airline’s official website or mobile application. Customers can also contact Kenya Airways’ customer service team for further assistance.
The airline reiterated its apology and thanked passengers for their patience as it navigated the weather-related disruption.
