- Akothee’s bank account was reportedly drained of over Ksh 500,000 without her authorisation.
- She claims she has never withdrawn more than Ksh 30,000 in person or via ATM without prior bank approval.
- Akothee warned the bank she would personally visit their headquarters on Monday if the issue isn’t resolved.
- She criticised the bank for delayed responses and a lack of clarity regarding the incident.
Akothee, popularly called Madam Boss, revealed on social media that her bank account had been emptied of over Ksh 500,000. She explained that, historically, her withdrawals never exceeded Ksh 30,000, whether at the bank or ATM. When larger amounts were needed, she contacted the bank to adjust her withdrawal limit.
The singer expressed disbelief that such a large sum could be taken within two days without her knowledge, questioning the security of the banking system she had trusted for years.
Akothee sent a stern message to the financial institution, stating that if the matter is not resolved, she and her team would confront them at their headquarters on Monday. “They will feel my presence in their headquarters on Monday,” she wrote, underscoring her determination to seek immediate action.
She stressed that her relationship with the bank was straightforward, primarily deposits and withdrawals, and that she had no outstanding loans or complications with her account.
The singer recounted how she reported the problem to the bank in February 2022 but received unsatisfactory responses described as “long stories.” She criticised the bank for failing to investigate thoroughly and for offering unclear explanations about how her funds disappeared.
Akothee highlighted a recent ATM incident on September 12, when a substantial withdrawal was made without her authorisation, further eroding her confidence in the bank’s systems.
Despite her frustration, Akothee stated that she would temporarily step back from worrying about finances and enjoy some rest. However, her message to the bank was unmistakable: she expects her money restored by Monday, or she will take direct action.
Her post reflects a mix of outrage and insistence on accountability, sending a clear signal to the bank that she will not tolerate further delays.
