Brazil international Lucas Paqueta has officially ended his time at West Ham United to rejoin his childhood club Flamengo.

Both clubs confirmed the transfer, though they did not reveal the final fee. Reports from the UK suggest the deal is worth more than €41 million.

Flamengo announced the signing through their social media channels, calling the move historic and symbolic.

In a video shared online, the club described Paquetá’s return as a proud moment, welcoming him back to where his football journey began.

The midfielder also shared his joy, thanking Flamengo’s leadership, sponsors, and supporters for making the transfer possible.

West Ham explained that Paqueta pushed for the move due to personal and family matters.

The club noted that the midfielder wanted a fresh start after a long and stressful period, following his clearance from misconduct allegations earlier this year.

Despite efforts by the club and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo to keep him, Paquetá remained firm in his decision to leave.

In July, the English Football Association cleared Paquetá of four spot-fixing accusations after a two-year probe.

The player had denied all claims and was facing the risk of a lifetime ban before being cleared, a process West Ham admitted took a heavy mental toll on him.

Paquetá joined West Ham in 2022 from Lyon, having earlier played for AC Milan.

During his stay, he made 139 appearances, scored 23 goals, and provided 15 assists. He was also part of the squad that lifted the UEFA Conference League in the 2022–23 season.

His contract was set to run until 2027.

The club thanked Paqueta for his commitment and praised supporters for standing by him during difficult moments.

West Ham currently sit 18th in the Premier League with 20 points from 23 matches, five points below the safety line as the season enters a critical phase.

Paqueta now returns to Brazil, hoping to restart his career in familiar surroundings, while West Ham must regroup as they fight to stay in the top flight.
