- Manchester United may still sign a player before the transfer window closes.
- Michael Carrick says the club is open to options but remains calm.
- Injury to Patrick Dorgu could force United to look for cover.
- Joshua Zirkzee is fit again amid talk of interest from Italy.
Manchester United have not shut the door on making a last-minute signing ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
Interim head coach Michael Carrick said situations can change quickly in football, suggesting the club could still act if the right chance comes up.
Last month, former head coach Ruben Amorim had expected at least one new signing to arrive.
However, United chose not to redirect the £65 million set aside for Antoine Semenyo after the forward decided to leave Bournemouth for Manchester City, a move that reportedly caused frustration within the club.
United have been linked with several midfield names, including former Wolves captain Ruben Neves, who now plays for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
The conversation around new signings has grown louder after Carrick confirmed Patrick Dorgu will be sidelined for several weeks. The Denmark international’s injury has raised questions about squad depth on the left side.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s league clash against Fulham, Carrick avoided making firm promises but did not rule anything out.
“Things can change quickly,” he said, adding that some situations are beyond the club’s control. He stressed that he remains relaxed and confident in the group he has.
Forward Joshua Zirkzee continues to attract attention, with Juventus reportedly weighing a move for the striker.
Carrick confirmed the Dutchman is now fully fit after a minor injury and is available for the Fulham match. He praised Zirkzee’s attitude and said he is eager to keep working with him.
Questions around captain Bruno Fernandes’ long-term future remain unresolved.
Carrick admitted the matter has come up but said it will be addressed later in the season, not now.
United’s recent form has been strong, with wins over Arsenal and Manchester City pushing them into the top four for the first time this season.
Still, Carrick warned against overconfidence. United have dropped points at home to several lower-ranked teams in recent months.
Fulham, under Marco Silva, are in good form and took a point from United earlier in the season. A win this weekend would leave them just one point behind United.
Carrick praised Silva’s work at Fulham and warned his players against complacency.
He made it clear that playing at Old Trafford does not guarantee success and insisted his side must stay focused to get a result.
