Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has warmed hearts online after revealing that he gifted a three-bedroom house to his longtime worker, Hermstone Makam, fulfilling a promise he made more than a decade ago.

In a social media post shared on December 26, Sudi said the gesture was a reward for years of trust, honesty, and hard work, noting that Hermstone never once reminded him about the promise.

According to Sudi, the idea to gift Hermstone a house came back to him recently, long after the promise was made.

“Lately, I remembered our promise (he didn’t remind me), so I gifted him a 3-bedroom house today,” Sudi wrote.
“Because of his trust and honesty, I decided to reward him for his resilience, trustworthiness, and hard work.”

Sudi traced their journey back to 2011, when he first met Hermstone along Riara Road in Nairobi. At the time, Hermstone was working at a construction site and volunteered to wash Sudi’s car.

Impressed by his commitment, Sudi began giving him small tasks, including regularly washing his car, as he quietly observed his discipline and work ethic.

Later, Sudi asked Hermstone if he would be willing to relocate to Eldoret. There, Hermstone took charge of guarding and maintaining Sudi’s compound even before the MP started building his own home.

Sudi recalled that the area was remote, with no electricity, yet Hermstone remained committed to his duties without complaint.

Seeing this loyalty, Sudi promised that one day he would help him own a home of his own.

Fourteen years later, that promise has now been honoured. Sudi officially handed Hermstone the keys to a new three-bedroom house, marking a major milestone in the worker’s life.

Photos shared online showed Sudi standing alongside Hermstone and his family, celebrating the long-awaited moment.

On the same day, Sudi extended a similar act of kindness to Peninah Manyara, also known as Mama Mungai, a woman who lost her son in February 2025.

Her late son, Mungai, worked at one of Sudi’s businesses and was the family’s main breadwinner. During the burial, Sudi had promised to buy her land and build her a home.

True to his word, Sudi delivered a three-bedroom house for Mama Mungai, saying it would offer her and her family stability and comfort.

“Ten months down the line, today I delivered on my promise,” Sudi said, adding that she will move from Langas to Lemook in Kapseret, where he now calls her his neighbour.
