National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula officially informed the House and the country about the passing of Nominated MP Denar Joseph Hamisi.
The MP died on the morning of Saturday, December 6, 2025, after suffering from an undisclosed illness.

Wetang’ula described the news as a heavy loss to Parliament and the nation, noting that Hamisi died at around 7:00 am.

Hamisi hailed from Mombasa County and joined the National Assembly through the former Amani National Congress (ANC) party, once led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
He earned recognition for his calm nature and his focus on serving ordinary citizens.

The late MP worked in two major committees: The Departmental Committee on Sports & Culture the Select Committee on National Cohesion & Equal Opportunities

The Speaker said Hamisi carried out his work with dedication and always took his responsibilities seriously.

“He will be remembered for humility and strong commitment to service to the nation,” Wetang’ula stated in his condolence message.

Wetang’ula extended condolences on behalf of all MPs and Parliamentary staff, comforting the family and friends of the late legislator.
He noted that Hamisi’s death is a loss not only to Parliament but to the country at large.

Preparations for Hamisi’s send-off will be handled by a joint team consisting of Parliament officials and the family.
The committee will be led by Kilifi North MP and Deputy Majority Leader Owen Baya.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi also mourned the MP, praising him as a principled and courageous leader.

“Denar was diligent, loyal, and resolute. He stood by his principles and inspired many across the political divide,” Mudavadi said.

He further expressed deep sympathy to the family, relatives, and colleagues of the late MP.
