  • Kenyans raised over KSh 1.1 million for Mama Gift’s allegedly sick son
  • Hospital photos used in the appeal are said to have been downloaded from Google
  • MC Chris and Karangu Muraya helped uncover inconsistencies
  • The hospital visit showed Baby Gift was not in the condition shown online

Just a few weeks after Kenyans united to support Mama Gift over her allegedly sick son, the story has taken a troubling twist that has left many donors angry and confused.

What started as a charity appeal filled with sympathy has now grown into a full-blown controversy, raising serious questions about honesty, trust, and accountability.

The issue came to light during a live TikTok session where claims emerged that the hospital image Mama Gift used to ask for donations was not genuine. The photo was allegedly downloaded from Google and did not show her real child.

This revelation quickly spread across social media, shocking supporters who had opened their hearts and wallets to help.

Many TikTok users who contributed to the fundraiser felt betrayed. Calls for refunds began circulating, with donors demanding answers over the more than KSh 1.1 million that had been raised.

What was meant to save a child’s life suddenly turned into anger, disappointment, and growing mistrust.

The controversy deepened after Mama Gift reportedly sent photos to MC Chris, showing what looked like Baby Gift in the ICU after chest surgery.

Disturbed by the images, MC Chris sought clarity and reached out to gospel singer Karangu Muraya, who was already in India.

Karangu Muraya visited the hospital and spoke directly with doctors. After the visit, he confirmed that he saw Baby Gift, but the child’s condition did not match the disturbing photos circulating online.

This contradiction raised more doubts about the authenticity of the images.

Further checks by MC Chris reportedly revealed that the images shared by Mama Gift were taken from the internet and dated back to July 2025.

The discovery intensified ethical concerns and fueled suspicions about the true intentions behind the donation drive.

Since the backlash began, Mama Gift has reportedly gone quiet. Attempts by MC Chris to reach her have gone unanswered, leaving donors frustrated and demanding clarity.

Many supporters now feel emotionally and financially misled.

As scrutiny grows, some members of the public are urging Karangu Muraya to trace Mama Gift and push for a direct conversation to clear the air.

Others argue that had he not stepped in, the fallout might have been avoided. Still, Karangu now finds himself caught in the middle of the storm, facing public pressure and criticism.
