- KCB RFC crush Leos 72–14 in the third round of the 2025/2026 Kenya Cup.
- Early tries from Ojoo and Wekesa set the tone at Ruaraka.
- KCB led 47–7 by halftime after a flurry of dominant scores.
KCB RFC put on a masterclass at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka, overpowering the Leos 72–14 in their third Kenya Cup clash of the season. Captain Felix Ojoo opened the scoring after sustained pressure inside the Leos 22, with Brian Wahinya converting for a 7–0 start.
Moments later, winger Michael Wekesa thrilled the home crowd with a sharp burst down the wing to stretch the lead to 14–0 after another clean conversion from Wahinya.
Wekesa struck again shortly after, benefiting from a clever move engineered by Wahinya that carved through the Leos’ defence. The try pushed the Bankers to 19–0.
Even a brief setback, Andy Cole’s sin-bin after a scuffle, couldn’t slow KCB’s pace. A smooth play to the right found Biko Branton, who finished well after receiving a precise pass from Vincent Onyala for 26–0.
Onyala then smashed through the defence to add his own try, with Wahinya slotting the conversion for 33–0. Strong finishes from Elvis Namusasi and George Ooro, paired with clinical kicking, saw KCB climb to 47–0 before Leos managed their first try.
Halftime: KCB 47–7 Leos.
The Bankers returned from the break with the same aggression. Ojoo claimed his second try to make it 52–7 before Branton added another. KCB struck again soon after to extend the tally to 62–7.
Wahinya then switched roles from playmaker to scorer, slicing through Leos’ defence with a brilliant solo run that sent the Ruaraka crowd into cheers.
Leos grabbed a consolation try late in the game, but the result was already beyond reach. KCB closed the match with another try to seal a dominant 72–14 victory.
After the final whistle, Head Coach Andrew Amonde applauded his team’s attitude:
“This win reflects the work the boys have been putting in. We were clinical, disciplined, and hungry from start to finish. Our focus now is consistency because the Kenya Cup is a long season, and we want to keep raising our standards every weekend.”
With three strong Kenya Cup outings so far, KCB now shifts its attention to the upcoming Enterprise Cup, looking to extend its impressive form.
