I had tried everything. Tutoring sessions, extra classes, motivational talks — my son, David, seemed to hit a wall every time he approached the Kenya Junior Secondary Examination Assessment (KJSEA). Each year, his hopes and mine were dashed when the results came back disappointing. Living in Nakuru, I felt the pressure mounting from relatives, teachers, and neighbors. They all had advice, but nothing seemed to stick.
David was bright, but school was never easy for him. Numbers confused him, essay writing drained him, and the pressure seemed to make things worse.
