According to Gumo, the incident left Natembeya with a serious injury that has forced him to stay away from public duties.

Speaking while representing the governor at the memorial service of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo in Kitale, Gumo revealed that Natembeya broke one of his legs during the accident.

He added that the governor would have wished to personally attend the memorial to console Jirongo’s family but was unable due to his condition.

Despite his absence, Natembeya sent a message praising the late Cyrus Jirongo as a leader who stood for ordinary citizens. Gumo said the governor urged leaders to emulate Jirongo’s commitment to uplifting the less privileged in society.
