- Attends the 7th African Union-European Union Summit to review Africa-Europe cooperation
- Chairs the AU Ad Hoc Oversight Committee on Institutional Reform as AU Champion
President William Ruto leaves Kenya for Luanda, Angola, where he will participate in high-level African and international meetings. State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said Ruto’s schedule includes the 7th African Union-European Union Summit and the Second Session of the AU Institutional Reform Ad Hoc Oversight Committee, which he will chair.
The AU-EU Summit will assess 20 years of cooperation and address challenges such as shifting geopolitical priorities, funding gaps, and rising security pressures. Kenya will push for predictable financing of African-led peace missions, stronger counter-terrorism partnerships, and joint action on climate change.
Ruto will also meet European leaders to discuss trade, investment, and the implementation of the Kenya-EU Economic Partnership Agreement. The President will present opportunities under Kenya’s economic transformation agenda, highlighting projects in energy, industry, and infrastructure.
Key initiatives include large-scale irrigation supported by mega dams, expansion of clean and industrial energy, and major upgrades to roads, airports, ports, and railways, projects designed to attract private investment.
In his role as AU Champion for Institutional Reforms, President Ruto will co-chair the AU Ad Hoc Committee of Heads of State. He will brief fellow leaders on progress in governance, peace and security, and enhancing the AU’s financial independence.
State House emphasised that Ruto’s participation reinforces Kenya’s commitment to African leadership, institutional strengthening, and strategic partnerships with Europe.
