- Candidates make final appeals as official campaign period ends at midnight
- UDA and United Opposition intensify efforts to win undecided voters
- Focus on local development, jobs, and public services
With the official campaign period ending at midnight, candidates in Malava Constituency are making their last appeals to voters. The weeks-long campaigns have included door-to-door outreach, public debates, and town hall meetings. Both UDA and the United Opposition parties are intensifying efforts to sway undecided voters in the final hours.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has been leading rallies for UDA candidate Leo Wamuthende at Karerema Market and Gitiburi. Meanwhile, President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, is spearheading activities for UDA’s David Ndakwa across several wards.
Several senior leaders are actively supporting candidates. DAP-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa is campaigning in Malava, while Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale are focusing on Kisa Ward. Their involvement highlights the high stakes of the by-election and the strategic importance of Malava in county politics.
The campaigns have centred on issues that resonate with voters, including improving local development, creating job opportunities, and enhancing public service delivery.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) confirmed that all election preparations are complete. Ballots have been distributed, and polling staff are ready to manage Thursday’s voting.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja assured the public that security agencies have put in place enhanced measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly voting process. Voters are expected to head to the polls across the constituency in a process closely monitored by both local and national authorities.
