The Social Health Authority (SHA) Board has announced the appointment of 16 Deputy Directors and nine Principal Claims Management Officers as part of a strategic move to reinforce its senior management and operational capacity.
The appointments, which follow a recruitment process initiated on July 29, 2025, are intended to enhance service delivery, oversight, and efficiency across the Authority’s departments.
The newly appointed Deputy Directors will lead crucial divisions within SHA, covering County Coordination, Legal Services, Finance, Funds Management, ICT, and Human Resources.
Among the notable appointees: Valentine Jepkorir Morogo – Deputy Director, County Coordination, Daniel Owino Konyango – Deputy Director, Legal Services, Caren Awuor Oduor – Deputy Director, Finance and Accounts, Mercy Lustina Angweye – Deputy Director, Funds Management, Dr Kandie Ng’ochoch – Deputy Director, Claims Management, Margaret Nyambura Macharia – Deputy Director, Benefits Management, Floridah Goki Mbogori – Deputy Director, Registration and Compliance, Patrick Maina Mwangi – Deputy Director, Provider Management, Jacob Muia Mutinda – Deputy Director, Corporate Communications Geoffrey Kones – Deputy Director, ICT Lewis Muia Masila – Deputy Director, Administration Mathew Kimeli Chirchir – Deputy Director, HR Management & Development Shafee Yaqub Mohamed – Deputy Director, Supply Chain Management Caxton Gambo Njuga and Francisca Mwanza – Deputy Directors, Internal Audit Nandwa Mukolwe Erick – Deputy Director, Planning & Linkages
The Authority also named nine Principal Claims Management Officers to strengthen oversight in claims processing and financial accountability:
Dr. George Waihenya, Dr. George Tende Oduma, Dr Joseph Mboke, Dr. Oliver Tony Mito, Dr. Yussuf M. Abdi, Dr. Scholarstic Murunga Wekesa, Dr. Dorcas Kavete Muia, Dr. Josephine Kuria Kuria, and Dr. Omar Sadik.
SHA Board Chairperson Abdi Mohamed said the appointments represent a key step in ensuring institutional stability and operational efficiency as the Authority transitions into full implementation of its mandate.
“The newly appointed senior management team brings a wealth of invaluable experience that will be crucial in steering the Social Health Authority toward achieving its core mandate: providing financial risk protection for Kenyan residents and ensuring access to quality healthcare,” he stated.
He further thanked SHA staff for their commitment and support during the transition period.
“The Board extends its profound gratitude to the staff for their unwavering dedication and support provided to the interim senior management team during the transition period,” he added.
The appointments mark a major step in the Authority’s ongoing reforms as it seeks to deliver on its universal healthcare goals and strengthen the social health protection framework across Kenya.
