Parliament has published a list of 68 individuals recommended for the 2025 National Honours, acknowledging legislators, senators, and senior parliamentary officers for their service to the country.
The list, issued during the Fifth Session of the Thirteenth Parliament, was published under Section 8(2) of the National Honours Act, Cap. 216A.
The honours list features prominent parliamentary figures, including Senate Majority Whip Ledama Olekina, nominated for the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS), and National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro, who is proposed for the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS).
Also featured are Minority Whip Junet Mohammed, Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss, and several committee chairs and vice-chairs who have played key roles in parliamentary business.
The top administrative staff have also been recommended for honours.
Jeremiah Nyegenye, the Clerk of the Senate and Secretary to the Parliamentary Service Commission, has been nominated for the CBS, while Samuel Njoroge, Clerk of the National Assembly, is proposed for the EBS.
Other notable nominees include Millicent Odhiambo, State Superintendent in Audit Services, and Mary Wanyonyi Chebukati, a Commissioner at the Commission on Revenue Allocation.
The Parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee has invited the public to share comments or raise objections regarding any of the listed nominees.
Submissions are to be sent via email by Monday, October 13, 2025, at 5 p.m.
The notice was officially signed by the Joint Secretaries of the Parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee, marking the start of the public consultation process before the final honours are confirmed.
