A 17-year-old student from Nyeri County has caused a stir after claiming he dreamt about a nationwide power outage three days before Kenya Power officially confirmed the blackout that left millions in darkness. The strange revelation has sparked curiosity both online and within the boy’s community, with some calling him gifted while others remain skeptical.
The student, identified as Daniel Muriithi, said he had a vivid dream in which the entire country went dark and people were seen lighting candles in panic. “I saw the whole of Kenya in darkness. Cities had no lights and even hospitals were using torches. It felt so real that I woke up sweating,” he wrote in a post shared on his private social media account.
According to Muriithi’s parents, the dream occurred three nights before the real blackout that struck most parts of Kenya. When news of the outage spread nationwide, his family recalled his words with disbelief. “He told us the power would go off for a long time. When it happened exactly like that, we were shocked,” said his mother, Jane Wanjiku.
Kenya Power officials have since attributed the blackout to a technical fault in the national grid system, though investigations are still ongoing.
