Just days before his death, relatives and close friends had dismissed reports claiming that his health was critical. His elder brother, Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga, reassured Kenyans that Raila was “up and about,” describing his condition as mild and normal for his age.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and SK Macharia, chairman of Royal Media Services, also maintained that Odinga was in good health, with Macharia confirming multiple conversations with the ODM leader.
