The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that it is finalising the registration of candidates for the upcoming by-elections across 24 electoral areas.

“IEBC is today (9th October 2025) finalising registration of candidates in the 24 electoral areas with by-elections scheduled for 27th November 2025. The process entails subjecting the nominees to a checklist drawn from legal requirements stipulating qualifications and disqualification for each elective position,” the statement read.
IEBC also released guidelines outlining the official campaign period and conduct for aspirants ahead of the elections.
Only candidates who pass the verification and registration stages will be cleared to campaign. The commission reminded all aspirants to follow the approved timelines and campaign hours.
“Candidates are commencing campaigns upon successful registration by the respective Returning Officers. The campaigns shall end on Monday, 24th November 2025, being 48 hours before the by-election day.
The campaign time shall run daily from 7.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. during the campaign period,” the statement added.
