Residents of Kwa Binzaro village in Kilifi County are still reeling from shock and amazement after a 70-year-old woman reportedly conceived against all medical expectations. The woman, identified by her neighbors as Mama Zawadi, is said to have long given up on the dream of becoming a mother after decades of childlessness.
According to close relatives, Mama Zawadi had endured years of ridicule, rejection, and emotional pain because she was unable to conceive. She had been married in her youth but separated from her husband after years of trying to have children without success. “She has cried all her life. People laughed at her and some even called her cursed,” said one of her neighbors, who added that the news of her pregnancy had brought tears of joy to the entire community.
