  • Nottingham Forest have dismissed head coach Nuno Espírito Santo.
  • The exit follows tensions with club owner Evangelos Marinakis over transfers.
  • Nuno guided Forest to seventh place last season, their best finish in 30 years.
  • Ange Postecoglou has agreed to replace him and will lead the team against Arsenal.
  • Postecoglou reunites with Marinakis, with whom he has a close personal bond.

Nottingham Forest announced on Monday that Nuno Espírito Santo had left his role as head coach. The club cited irreconcilable differences with owner Evangelos Marinakis, particularly regarding transfer policy.

Nuno, who was appointed in late 2023, helped Forest secure a seventh-place finish last season and qualification for the Europa League, their highest Premier League standing in three decades.

In a quick succession plan, former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has agreed to take charge at the City Ground. The Australian, who guided Spurs to Europa League glory before being dismissed earlier this year, is expected to be on the touchline when Forest face Arsenal.

Forest officials framed Postecoglou’s arrival as a move to ensure stability and continuity as the club balances domestic challenges with European football. The appointment also reunites him with Marinakis, with whom he shares a close personal relationship.
