Former MP Passes Away

  • Speaker Moses Wetang’ula confirmed Nyammo’s death on Monday, September 29.
  • Wetang’ula and Tetu MP Geoffrey Wandeto mourned him as a leader, mentor, and friend.
  • Nyammo served as Tetu MP from 2008 to 2013.
  • He was also a businessman, academic, and recipient of the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW).
  • His passing comes weeks after former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno also died.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula announced the death of former Tetu MP Francis Thombe Nyammo, describing him as a man who dedicated his life to serving the community.

“He will be remembered for his distinguished service, leadership, and commitment to community welfare. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Tetu. May his soul rest in peace,” Wetang’ula said.

Tetu MP Geoffrey Wandeto also paid tribute, recalling Nyammo not only as his predecessor but as a mentor and friend who shaped his political path.

“The passing of Hon. Francis Thombe, FT Nyammo, deeply saddens me. He was not only my predecessor but also my mentor and friend,” Wandeto stated.

Nyammo represented Tetu Constituency in Parliament from 2008 to March 2013.

Beyond politics, he built a strong career in business and academia. He studied Economics, History, and Political Science before rising to leadership positions at the National Bank of Kenya, Kenya Reinsurance, Longhorn Publishers, and Inoorero University, where he served as Chancellor.

His contributions earned him recognition through the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW).

Nyammo’s death comes just weeks after the passing of former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno.

In an earlier tribute on September 7, Wetang’ula mourned Otieno as a respected leader who left a strong mark on Kenya’s politics.

Otieno first joined Parliament in 1988 and subsequently served as Minister for Industrialisation, Labour, and later Transport and Communications.
