  • Mugithi star Samidoh resigns from NPS after 12 years.
  • He says he wants to focus on his music career.
  • His exit ends the desertion case threats by NPS.
  • Resignation follows controversies around politics, family, and clashes with bosses.
  • He is now free to concentrate fully on his flourishing career.

Famous Mugithi singer Samuel Muchoki, alias Samidoh, has officially left the National Police Service after 12 years. His resignation letter was accepted, and Inspector-General Douglas Kanja confirmed he is free to follow his dreams.

Samidoh said he stepped down for personal reasons, mainly to give his music career full attention. He had earlier faced trouble for skipping duty, but this resignation clears all desertion charges.

The singer’s journey in uniform had been shaky. At one point, a video of him chanting “wantam” with fans landed him in hot water for appearing political. He was later transferred to Baringo but never reported choosing instead to fly to the U.S. for shows. This sparked a warrant of arrest, though court orders shielded him from jail.

Samidoh’s closeness with senior politicians added more fuel to the fire. A meeting with DP Kithure Kindiki angered ex-DP Rigathi Gachagua, who even called for a boycott of his music. Still, Samidoh kept his music alive, meeting politicians abroad and returning under legal protection.

His resignation now sealed, Samidoh has put the police chapter behind him. He is now ready to concentrate fully on music, where he continues to shine both in Kenya and internationally.
