Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo has asked Kenyans to remain calm and patient over inconveniences caused by the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN).

He admitted there have been delays and congestion, but stressed that strict security checks and crowd control are necessary for safety.

Dr. Omollo described CHAN as a “dress rehearsal” ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Kenya will co-host.

He assured Kenyans that government preparations for AFCON are already underway.

The PS confirmed that Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret and Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega will undergo upgrades. He said funds are already set aside to make sure the two venues meet CAF standards.

Omollo urged fans to cooperate during CHAN, adding that smooth hosting of the tournament will build Kenya’s reputation as a safe and reliable host for big events.

“This is more than a football tournament; it is a chance to showcase our ability to organise and secure major international events,” he said.
