- Nairobi County has closed a strip club in Pipeline Estate, Embakasi West.
- Residents raised complaints over noise, insecurity, and immoral activities.
- The raid was led by Chief Environment Officer Geoffrey Mosiria.
- NEMA had earlier ordered the club closed, but it continued to operate.
- Officials warn that other clubs in residential areas face similar action.
The Nairobi County Government has shut down a strip club in Pipeline Estate after months of pressure from residents. Locals cited late-night noise, insecurity, and the exposure of children to indecent behaviour.
The crackdown on August 15 was led by Chief Environment Officer Geoffrey Mosiria with teams from the Planning and Public Health Departments.
“In response to persistent and heartfelt complaints from residents, we have moved in firmly, shut down operations, and issued strict warnings,” Mosiria said.
“We will not allow the well-being of Pipeline residents to be sacrificed for the selfish gains of a few.”
The strip club had previously been ordered closed by NEMA on April 16 for failing to comply with noise regulations. However, it continued operating, prompting county authorities to enforce stricter measures.
Mosiria stressed the action was not aimed at stopping nightlife businesses, but at ensuring compliance with zoning and environmental laws.
“Such a business has no place in the heart of a community where families are striving to raise their children in a safe and decent environment,” he added.
Officials have now warned that similar establishments in residential areas risk closure if they continue breaking the law.
