In Nairobi, what was supposed to be a day of pure celebration for newly crowned Mega Jackpot winner Bonnie Kamau turned into a trending scandal. Just hours before bagging Ksh 424 million, Bonnie allegedly texted his girlfriend, Milka Wanja, asking for a break.

According to Wanja, the timing was no coincidence. “Nikama alijua… leo naona ameenda na baby mama Zanzibar,” she told reporters, clearly heartbroken.

The “baby mama” in question is the mother of Bonnie’s child, with whom he split two years ago. Moments after the jackpot announcement, the two were spotted boarding a flight for what appears to be a luxury getaway.

Kenyan timelines on Twitter (X) and Facebook lit up with hot takes. Some defended Bonnie’s choice, claiming “blood is thicker than water”, while others accused him of being “cold and calculated” towards Wanja.

Experts say sudden riches often change relationship priorities, sometimes revealing cracks that were already there. Now, with millions in his account, Bonnie’s personal life is under a microscope.

Whether the Zanzibar trip rekindles old love or is simply a glamorous co-parenting retreat, only time will tell.
