Football fans will turn up in larger numbers at Kasarani Stadium on Friday after CAF approved an 80 per cent capacity for the CHAN quarterfinal between Kenya’s Harambee Stars and Madagascar.
The move allows 38,400 fans into the stadium, compared to the 27,000 who watched Kenya beat Zambia last Sunday.
FKF had appealed for the review, saying many fans wanted to support the team in the knockout stage.
This will be Harambee Stars’ first-ever CHAN quarterfinal at home, and the atmosphere is expected to be electric.
Officials said the decision will boost the players as they push for a historic semi-final spot. Security measures are already in place to control crowds and ensure safety.
Ticket sales are expected to rise quickly, with fans urged to buy early to avoid last-minute problems.
Kenya’s coach and players have praised fans, saying their support against Zambia gave the team extra energy. With 11,400 more fans now allowed, Harambee Stars will rely on the “12th man” to push past Madagascar.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m. on Friday, with excitement growing across the country.
