Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has confirmed that moving Karura Forest to a new payment system will not interfere with daily activities. Staff such as scouts, clerks, cleaners, and contract workers will continue with their roles without disruption.
Visitors have been assured that their experience at Karura will remain the same. Annual passes already in use remain valid until their expiry date. Payments will now be made through mobile phone or card, with an average waiting time of just one minute.
The Chief Conservator of Forests, Alex Lemarkoko, personally visited Karura Forest at dawn to oversee the first day of the transition. He engaged with visitors, service providers, and staff to ensure smooth implementation.
Mr. Lemarkoko encouraged visitors to share their views to help improve services. He also thanked the staff and scouts for their commitment to guiding the process.
Karura Forest continues to be co-managed by the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and the Friends of Karura Forest (FKF) community association.
