Fans of Harambee Stars will now have to follow the action from home after match tickets for their upcoming two CHAN 2024 Group A fixtures were confirmed sold out. The home matches against Angola (Thursday) and Morocco (Sunday) will be played in front of a packed Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The Sh200 (Ordinary) and Sh500 (Silver) ticket categories were quickly scooped up, mirroring the enthusiasm seen during Kenya’s thrilling opener against DR Congo.

Following recent upgrades to the Kasarani stadium in preparation for the continental tournament, the venue’s seating capacity has been reduced from 60,000 to 48,000. Despite this, the demand for tickets has skyrocketed, highlighting the home crowd’s unwavering support for the national team.

Supporters still hopeful of watching Harambee Stars live will get another chance when tickets for the final group-stage match against Zambia, set for August 17, go on sale via CAF’s official portal.

Kenya made a dream start in their first-ever CHAN appearance last Sunday with a narrow but crucial 1–0 win over two-time champions DR Congo. The goal came from midfielder Austine Odhiambo, who calmly netted just before halftime, sending the sold-out crowd into a frenzy.

This marked not just Kenya’s maiden CHAN win but also made them only the third debutant team to secure a victory in their opening match.

Coach Benni McCarthy Hails the Team’s Performance

“I’m proud of my team – many of them were stepping onto such a big stage for the first time. Beating one of the tournament favourites is massive for us. We were nervous at the start, but once the boys settled, they showed real bravery,”
— Benni McCarthy, Harambee Stars Head Coach

“Austine Odhiambo showed great composure and skill to give us the lead just before the break. That was the perfect time to score – just when they thought we’d head in level.”

Kenya now aims to become the first tournament debutant since Madagascar in 2022 to win their first two CHAN matches. A win on Thursday against Angola will likely secure Harambee Stars a place in the knockout rounds.

The excitement is building, the fans are ready, and so are the Stars.
