Italy captain Gianluigi Donnarumma is closing in on a move to Manchester City after agreeing on personal terms. The 25-year-old keeper, who guided PSG to their first Champions League trophy last season, is no longer part of Luis Enrique’s plans after the arrival of Lucas Chevalier from Lille for €55 million.

Talks Between City and PSG

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Donnarumma has shaken hands on the move and is eager to work with Pep Guardiola. PSG, however, are asking close to €50 million, though City hope to strike a lower deal before the transfer deadline.

City must first settle the future of their current No.1, Ederson, who is in the last year of his contract. He is valued at around €35 million, but no strong offers have arrived yet. Galatasaray’s initial €10m bid was quickly rejected, and the Turkish side later turned its focus to Porto’s Diogo Costa. Talks have also included a possible £15m move for City defender Manuel Akanji.

Donnarumma, who joined PSG from AC Milan in 2021 on a free transfer, has made more than 100 appearances for the French club. On Friday, he looked emotional as he waved goodbye to fans at the Parc des Princes, showing he is ready for a new journey.

With only a few days left before the transfer window closes, all eyes will be on whether City can secure Ederson’s exit and complete Donnarumma’s switch to the Premier League.
