Detectives have arrested TikTok content creator Godfrey Mwasiaga, known online as Kakan Maiyo, after a viral video surfaced showing him allegedly calling for attacks against police officers and their families.

The video, widely circulated on social media, drew immediate backlash as it appeared to promote violence during a tense period of nationwide protests against the government.

Mwasiaga was tracked and arrested at Kimathi House in Nairobi, where he was running a logistics business under the name LetaPeleka Logistics.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mwasiaga is now in custody and will face charges related to: Incitement to violenceMisuse of social media platforms

Authorities emphasised that his comments were criminal and threatened national peace and security, especially amid ongoing unrest linked to anti-government demonstrations.

“We are monitoring digital platforms closely. Those using them to spread hate, incitement, or violence will face the full force of the law.”
DCI Statement

The arrest comes during heightened national tension, where social media has become a powerful tool for both mobilisation and misinformation. The government has stepped up efforts to regulate online content, especially where it promotes civil unrest.

Mwasiaga’s case is one of the first high-profile arrests related to digital incitement since the protests began.

This is a developing story. More updates to follow as he appears in court.
