What started as a night of Mugithi fun turned into chaos when a political disagreement interrupted Samidoh’s homecoming performance at the Embassy Lounge along Thika Road. The tension escalated right in front of fans, cutting the music and drawing attention to an unexpected showdown.
The fight reportedly began between nominated MCA Shirleen Wambui, a close associate of Charlene Ruto, and Samuel Ireri, a youthful political figure from Embu. Witnesses said things started with words but quickly turned physical, stunning the crowd.
To make things worse, Shaban Gichuhi, a Roysambu parliamentary hopeful aligned with Rigathi Gachagua’s camp, joined the fray. He allegedly sided with Shirleen to confront Ireri.
“The whole club was in shock. One moment, Samidoh was singing, the next there was a fight on the floor,” a clubgoer said.
Security and other patrons stepped in to calm the situation before it spiralled out of control.
Sources familiar with the matter hinted that the clash may have deeper political roots. The fight seemed to reflect divisions within the Mount Kenya political scene, especially around President Ruto’s potential successors. Such political tensions spilling into entertainment events have raised eyebrows among Kenyans, especially given how public this incident was.
Samidoh Muchoki, the celebrated Mugithi singer and police officer, is a household name in Kenya’s entertainment scene. His hits like “Riari Itheru” and “Murata wa Ngai” have made him a favourite, and his public life, especially involving politician Karen Nyamu, often draws media buzz.
His return to perform on Thika Road was supposed to be a joyful homecoming. Instead, it ended up with fans witnessing a political fight that left many calling for stricter crowd and guest screening at celebrity events.
