  • DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua opens first U.S. satellite office in Seattle.
  • The office targets diaspora engagement and grassroots political participation.
  • It will serve as a hub for forums, support services, and policy communication.
  • Gachagua is currently on a two-month U.S. tour aimed at expanding the party’s reach.
  • The move comes amid early momentum ahead of the 2027 general election.

Democratic Change Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has officially launched the party’s first diaspora satellite office in the United States, a move he says marks a major step in international outreach and inclusion.

The new North Pacific Chapter Satellite Office, located in Seattle, was inaugurated during Gachagua’s ongoing two-month U.S. tour aimed at strengthening political ties and expanding the DCP’s footprint abroad.

“This new office will strengthen our efforts, foster greater engagement, and bring our initiatives closer to the people of Seattle and the surrounding areas,” said Gachagua in a statement posted on his official social media platforms.

According to Gachagua, the Seattle chapter will serve as a platform for political participation, community development, and direct communication between Kenyans in the U.S. and DCP policymakers back home.

The office will also be used to host forums, provide support services, and coordinate programs designed to involve the diaspora in Kenya’s national agenda.

“This is a new milestone in building a stronger and more inclusive political movement. We must incorporate the diaspora in shaping Kenya’s future,” Gachagua noted.

The Seattle launch reflects Gachagua’s broader strategy to mobilise diaspora support ahead of the 2027 general election, positioning the DCP as a party that listens to and includes Kenyans beyond its borders.

The party hopes that its presence in the U.S. will energise its base, attract new followers, and create avenues for diaspora-led change initiatives.

As the political landscape in Kenya begins to take shape in the lead-up to 2027, the opening of this U.S. office could mark the beginning of a more organised and vocal Kenyan diaspora engagement in national politics.
