Speaking from Toronto, firebrand lawyer and activist Dr. Miguna Miguna has launched a fresh attack on former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, blaming him for his illegal deportation in 2018.
Miguna claimed Matiang’i personally oversaw a violent raid on his home, his arrest, torture, and forced removal from Kenya.
“It was Uhuru Kenyatta and Dr. Matiang’i who invaded my house and destroyed it on February 2, 2018,” said Miguna. “I was abducted, tortured, and deported in defiance of court orders.”
Miguna reminded the public that multiple judges, including Justices George Odunga and Chacha Mwita, found Matiang’i guilty of contempt over the deportation.
“He has never complied with those court orders to this day,” he said.
Miguna also slammed President Ruto’s government for failing to act.
“The Ruto regime should have prosecuted people like Matiang’i, Kibicho, and Kinoti for disobeying court orders and committing atrocities. Instead, they were shielded.”
Miguna said that President William Ruto had personally assured him in 2022 that his legal claims would be settled upon his return to Kenya.
“Ruto told me he would instruct the former AG Kihara Muturi to settle the matter. That was another lie.”
With reports surfacing of Matiang’i preparing a high-budget presidential bid, Miguna warned Kenyans not to fall for it.
“Matiang’i exemplified abuse of power in its purest form. He oversaw extrajudicial killings, the River Yala massacres, and my exile while sedated and unconscious.”
Miguna declared that someone with such a record should not be seeking leadership.
“He should not be on a campaign trail — he should be behind bars.”
Miguna’s explosive remarks have added pressure on Fred Matiang’i just as reports of his possible 2027 presidential campaign begin to circulate. While Matiang’i has yet to respond, political analysts say the backlash could complicate his ambitions.
