Football Kenya Federation (FKF) boss Hussein Mohammed has rubbished reports claiming that Macdonald Mariga was silently kicked out of his Vice President role. Speaking on Tuesday, July 22, Hussein called the viral social media posts nothing but “misinformation.”

He advised Kenyans not to believe the rumours, saying FKF remains firm in its operations and runs strictly by its constitution.

“Kindly disregard misinformation circulating on social media. FKF is an institution guided by its constitution, which we strictly adhere to,” he stated.

The statement was a direct response to a viral online post that alleged Mariga had already been replaced by FKF NEC member Abdalla Yusuf. The post also claimed the reshuffle was part of a bigger plan to eventually sabotage and force out national team coach Benni McCarthy.

“Abdalla Yusuf, an NEC member, is the new FKF Vice President after Legend Macdonald Mariga was secretly removed. The target is Benni McCarthy; they want to remove him by sabotage,” the unverified message claimed.

Despite the online noise, Hussein stressed that the federation’s focus is on preparing for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which Kenya is co-hosting with Uganda and Tanzania.

FKF says they are committed to ensuring the tournament is a success and a stepping stone for growing local football.

Fans waiting to attend CHAN 2024 matches will now be able to purchase their tickets from Wednesday, July 23. According to the federation, ticket prices have been set in a way that most fans can afford. Regular: Ksh200 VIP: Ksh500 VVIP: Ksh1,000
