Wiper Party is no more—at least in name. The Registrar of Political Parties has confirmed that Kalonzo Musyoka’s outfit has officially transitioned to Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF). The change, captured in a Kenya Gazette notice, is part of a bigger plan to give the party a fresh national identity.
During a recent rally in Emali, Kalonzo told supporters that WPF’s mission is to embrace younger voters. He said the name shift mirrors the patriotism seen in Gen Z, especially during the 2024 Finance Bill protests. “We are rebranding to include the new generation of change-makers,” he said.
Elsewhere, the Jubilee Party has moved to settle long-running internal fights by revamping its leadership. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta remains party boss, while several key loyalists like Jeremiah Kioni and David Murathe have retained their positions.
Fresh faces have stepped into top roles, with the likes of Beatrice Gambo taking over as Deputy Party Leader (Strategy) and Pauline Njoroge now Deputy National Organising Secretary. Others include: Joseph Manje – Deputy Leader (Outreach), Yassin Noor – Deputy Secretary-General
But not everyone cut—Kanini Kega, who handled elections, was pushed out. The party hasn’t named a replacement yet.
Both moves—Wiper’s rebrand and Jubilee’s reshuffle—signal preparations for the political battles ahead. Whether they win over voters or just reorganise the chairs, only time will tell.
