- George Ruto’s flashy new matatu “Mood” attacked by unknown people
- Windows were broken, and thugs tried to steal front lights
- Incident captured on video now going viral
- Comes shortly after solar panels were replaced following earlier damage
A brand-new Sh14 million Nganya recently launched by President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto, has been damaged by unknown people just days after hitting the road. The vehicle, named Mood, had its windows broken and almost lost its headlights in the attempted vandalism.
A video making rounds online shows the damage done to the flashy matatu. The person filming is heard saying the attackers were even trying to steal the front lights but were unsuccessful, though they did manage to loosen them.
This isn’t the first time Mood has been in trouble. During the launch event, excited crowds climbed on the vehicle, damaging all three solar panels on the roof. The matatu was quickly returned to the garage, and the panels were replaced.
Despite the setback, the Nganya is now back on the Embakasi route and has resumed operations. Security around the matatu has been stepped up to avoid a repeat of the attack. It continues to grab attention with its unique design and heavy modifications.
