In a disturbing incident that has shocked Eldoret residents, police in Turbo, Uasin Gishu County, have arrested a headteacher accused of defiling four male pupils. The arrest was made after complaints were formally raised by the victims and their guardians.

The teacher, whose name has not been revealed, was picked up on Sunday, July 13, just moments after officiating netball games at the school. Police say the arrest came swiftly after credible reports reached their office.

Turbo Sub-County Police Commander Patrick Wekesa confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was taken into custody to allow for investigations. According to him, the matter is delicate and calls for a thorough process, including medical tests for both the suspect and the victims.

“We are holding him for investigations to establish the truth. The offence is serious and requires medical reports before the next action is taken,” said Wekesa.

The victims are reported to be learners from different grades: a 15-year-old in Grade 8, a 14-year-old in Grade 7, and two boys in Grade 9, aged 15 and 16. The alleged acts reportedly took place over three months, from December 2024 to February 2025.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is now in charge of the case. Officers have begun recording statements from the victims while working to gather supporting evidence.

“We have already dispatched officers to thoroughly investigate the matter so that the necessary legal action is taken,” said Wekesa.

Both the suspect and the victims have been taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical examination. Police say the reports will be critical in guiding the next step in the legal process.

The case has sparked fresh concerns over child safety in schools, and authorities have vowed to handle it with the seriousness it deserves.
