A major fire broke out early Monday morning at Koiwa Boys High School in Konoin Sub County, burning down a dormitory and leaving over 100 students without accommodation.

The fire started around 6:00 a.m., according to the Department of Disaster Management. Emergency response teams arrived swiftly and managed to stop the flames from spreading to other buildings.

Luckily, no student or staff member was hurt in the incident. However, one dormitory was destroyed, resulting in the loss of students’ personal items and school property.

A total of 113 students were displaced by the blaze. The school, together with local authorities, has already begun arranging temporary shelter and providing necessities to the affected learners.

Investigations are currently underway to establish what triggered the fire. Officials have yet to release any details, but they have assured the public that a full probe is ongoing.
