Esther Passaris has come out in support of Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat, who has been under public scrutiny after the sudden death of Albert Ojwang’ while in police custody. The incident has caused uproar across the country, with calls for accountability mounting. However, Passaris is asking Kenyans to avoid making rushed judgments.
She Was With Lagat When News Broke
According to Passaris, she was in the company of DIG Lagat on Sunday during a Kenya Alliance of Residents Association meeting when the news of Ojwang’s death first surfaced. She insists Lagat looked surprised and was clearly unaware of the incident before that moment.
“He had no clue. His reaction was genuine, not that of someone hiding anything,” she noted.
The Nairobi Woman Rep is now urging the public to give investigators space to do their job. She says emotions are high, but justice can only be served through a proper and transparent process.
“We need a detailed and honest probe. Let those truly responsible be punished. This shouldn’t be about pointing fingers without facts,” she urged.
As the case unfolds, Passaris stands firm that the focus must be on facts, not assumptions. She stressed that the public deserves answers—but not at the cost of turning innocent people into scapegoats. Her statement adds a new angle to the national conversation, which continues to attract attention and pressure on police leadership.
