Shock hit the Kitui political scene after Ikanga Ward MCA Cyrus Musyoka Kisavi was arrested for allegedly stealing mobile phone accessories worth close to Ksh.1.9 million. The incident, which took place on February 8, 2025, happened at Buscar Courier Services along River Road in Nairobi.
DCI officers say CCTV footage showed Musyoka casually walking away with a parcel meant for delivery to a Mombasa client. This same package had earlier been declared missing by the courier company’s management, leading to a quiet but intense investigation.
According to a statement from the DCI, “The arrest followed an identification after CCTV footage of the scene was analysed, which captured the suspect leaving with the parcel destined for a client in Mombasa.”
Suspect Handed Over After Surprise Return to Courier Office
Interestingly, Musyoka didn’t identify himself as a sitting MCA when he was first confronted. Courier staff recognised him when he returned to the same River Road office and quickly alerted security. He was immediately detained and handed over to the Central Police Station, where police confirmed he was indeed an elected leader from Kitui.
After this, the MCA was moved to Mombasa, where detectives from that region took over the case and are now preparing charges. The case has stirred serious discussions about the integrity of elected county officials, with many Kenyans expressing concern over the growing number of such incidents.
At the time of writing, Musyoka and his legal team have not issued any public response to the allegations. Investigations are still ongoing.
