  • Deputy President Kindiki to tour Kitui and Makueni counties in a one-day visit.
  • He will interact with locals in Zombe (Kitui East) and Mukuyuni (Kaiti Constituency).
  • The trip follows his appearance at the 2025 National Macadamia Conference in Embu.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is today visiting parts of Kitui and Makueni counties as part of a one-day economic tour focused on uplifting communities in the Kamba region. His itinerary includes stops in Zombe, Kitui East, and Mukuyuni in Kaiti Constituency, where he is expected to meet locals and push the government’s economic empowerment plans.

The tour is part of the administration’s wider strategy to promote community-level development and improve livelihoods through government-backed initiatives.

Macadamia Sector Also in Focus

Kindiki’s trip comes barely a day after he addressed farmers and industry players at the 2025 National Macadamia Conference, held at Embu University Grounds. While there, he underlined the government’s shift toward processing and value addition, warning against the continued export of raw macadamia nuts.

“We’re tightening policies to stop raw macadamia exports. Kenya can earn over Ksh 10 billion from this sector while creating thousands of new jobs,” Kindiki said.

He noted that the government will step up monitoring of agricultural standards and improve systems to protect the international reputation of Kenyan produce.

Boosting Agriculture, Empowering Regions

The Deputy President’s frequent visits to counties are seen as part of a wider agenda to enhance productivity in farming and encourage small-scale enterprise development. His engagements in Ukambani signal the government’s intention to support local farmers and expand job opportunities through better agricultural practices.

More details from today’s tour are expected as the events unfold.
