- The National and FEASSSA were earlier scheduled to be staged at Mumias Sports Complex.
- The change comes after Mumias Sports Complex venue being declared unfit.
The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) is set to shift the upcoming National and FEASSSA games from Mumias Sports Complex after the venue was declared unfit to host the high-profile events.
The plans to stage the tournaments in Kakamega County likely have hit a setback following concerns over the lack of adequate stands to accommodate fans and probably poor field when it rains.
Efforts to install artificial turf at Bukhungu Stadium was discussed but time constraints was the issue.
KSSSA is now facing a major logistical headache in determining the final host venue. The decision-making process has seen the games’ potential location bounce from Nakuru City to Eldoret City, then to Kakamega, and now Bungoma leaving schools, teams, and fans in uncertainty.
As a result, all eyes are now on Masinde Muliro Stadium in Bungoma, where KSSSA officials and inspectors have arrived for a fresh evaluation. Sources close to the association suggest that Bungoma is now the front-runner to host the games, pending final approval.
The decision is expected soon, as preparations enter a critical phase, the official communication will be released soon.
