5,000 Trees Planted Under Soldier-Led Greening Plan

The event was conducted under the Environmental Soldier Programme, a Ministry of Defence initiative that blends environmental protection with national service. During the exercise, participants managed to plant 5,000 trees as part of the country’s plan to grow 500 million by the year 2032.

Isiolo Picked for Its Strategic and Ecological Value

Speaking at the event, CS Tuya said Isiolo holds a key position due to its military establishments and natural resources. She called on both the Kenya Defence Forces and local authorities to continue working closely to protect the region’s ecosystem.

Governor Backs the Programme Fully

Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo, who was also present, praised the initiative and promised county support going forward. He stressed that Darajani Springs remains one of the main water sources for the region, and such environmental activities are essential for sustainability.
