Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i made his public return on Friday, May 2, attracting large gatherings in Kisii and Nyamira counties. Residents came out in big numbers, lining the streets and cheering as his convoy moved through the towns.

Locals Cheer Matiang’i’s Return

Matiang’i’s presence excited many as crowds filled the streets to see and listen to him. In Nyansiongo, Nyamira County, he addressed supporters and pledged to join forces with leaders who share his vision. He assured them their voices had been heard and that talks were underway to build unity.

Team Matiang’i Confirms Comeback Plans

According to a statement from the Team Matiang’i Secretariat issued earlier on April 30, the public tour was designed to reintroduce the former CS to the political scene after months of silence. It was also aimed at building ties with grassroots supporters across Gusii.

Top Gusii Leaders Join Matiang’i

The rally wasn’t a solo mission. Matiang’i was accompanied by a host of elected leaders from Kisii and Nyamira, including Governors Simba Arati and Amos Nyaribo. Senators Momoima Onyonka and Okong’o Omogeni also took part, alongside Members of Parliament and MCAs.

Busy Schedule for Matiang’i’s Day-Long Tour

His itinerary for the day included visits and stopovers in Kijauri, Keroka, Keumbu, Kisii Town, and Nyamira. Apart from addressing residents, Matiang’i also paid courtesy visits to the offices of both county governors, signaling renewed political engagement at the grassroots level.
